Third Sydney Route Announced Today Bringing Gold Coast Five Flights Per Day

Tiger Airways announced it will launch flights between Sydney and Gold Coast from this December.

Fares for the new route go on sale today starting from just $39* one way (Tiger raw fare including taxes and charges). Tiger Airways flights between Sydney and Gold Coast will start from 15 December 2009 with a daily flight between the two destinations.

Shelley Roberts, Managing Director, Tiger Airways Australia, says today’s Sydney-Gold Coast route announcement is another significant milestone for Australia’s fastest growing major domestic airline.

“We are thrilled to provide an affordable air travel alternative for families and Tiger Airways customers who wish to fly between Sydney and the Gold Coast in time for the busy summer holiday period. Today’s announcement means we will be increasing our flights by 25% to the Gold Coast with five flights a day (up from four daily flights currently).

“We’ve had an overwhelming response on our new Melbourne – Sydney and Adelaide – Sydney routes which we launched just a few months ago in July 2009. We are thrilled to now be able to offer Sydneysiders our third fantastic destination, as we fly direct to the Gold Coast at our famous low, low fares.”

From 15 December 2009, Tiger Airways new Sydney – Gold Coast route is expected to provide an additional 131,000 seats annually into and out of the Gold Coast, which means there will be more than 650,000 seats annually into and out of the Gold Coast from this date on the Tiger Airways network.

Gold Coast Tourism CEO, Martin Winter, says “Gold Coast Tourism welcomes Tiger Airways’ commitment to this Sydney – Gold Coast route. It demonstrates the popularity and sustainability of the Gold Coast as an ever evolving destination. No doubt the summer holiday makers will also welcome the service and the value on offer, as the Gold Coast gets ready to turn on another splendid Australian summer.”

Tiger Airways now offers 18 routes spanning every state in Australia and prides itself on offering consistently the lowest airfares for domestic travel, coupled with the newest fleet of aircraft in Australia.

Tickets for the Sydney – Gold Coast route and all 18 routes are available online at www.tigerairways.com.

Note: flights available on the new Sydney – Gold Coast at this time are on sale for travel period from 15 December until 27 March 2010. Flights post 27 March 2010 will be available online soon! *(above price of $39 to travel between Sydney and Gold Coast is for “Tiger Raw” fares – the lowest available fare from Tiger Airways Australia which is fully inclusive of all taxes and charges. The “Tiger Raw” fare does not incur payment of the $6 convenience fee associated with credit card purchases, per flight, per sector. “Tiger Raw” fares must be purchased using a Mastercard debit card issued by an Australian financial institution).

Fares from only $28* one way. Book now and fly cheaper with Tiger Airways.

The pandas have received a huge response in Australia. Many families in Adelaide have started growing Bamboo shoots to welcome their new visitors from Sichuan Province. The pandas are housed in a new $8 million climate controlled luxury enclosure specially built for them that also includes refrigerated rocks to protect them from the Australian summer.

Adelaide Zoo and Hotels near Adelaide Zoo expect the pandas to boost tourism and help them generate serious revenue over the 10 years.
