Adelaide Zoo welcomes Giant Pandas

Adelaide Zoo and Australia welcomes the four-year-old male Panda “Wang Wang” and three-year-old female Panda “Fu Ni,” on a joint research program for a 10-year stay in Australia. It is hoped that Wang Wang and Fu Ni will be the first pandas to breed in the southern hemisphere.
The pandas have received a huge response in Australia. Many families in Adelaide have started growing Bamboo shoots to welcome their new visitors from Sichuan Province. The pandas are housed in a new $8 million climate controlled luxury enclosure specially built for them that also includes refrigerated rocks to protect them from the Australian summer.
